Who Are We

The friends of Copperfield Surgery is a registered charity which for over 30 years has acted as a conduit
for the exchange of information between the practice and patients and has raised funds totalling £170,000 to provide equipment to improve the service provided by the Surgery. FoCS was awarded in an NHS Beacon award of patient participation groups in 2020 in recognition of its major contribution to Doctor / patient relationship.

In 2015 the UK government introduced GP practice Patient Participation Goups and (PPG) to enhance
communication between patients and practices; FoCS was already fulfilling this role and join the national
associations of PPG’S

What is a PPG?

  • PPG is a group of volunteer patients and carers who meet regularly with practice staff to enhance
    healthcare services at the GP surgery. to discuss and support the running of their GP practice.
  • All GP surgeries are required to have a PPG by law.

What Does It Do?

  • The objectives of our PBGR to provide an open form to facilitate communication between patient and the practice
  • Provide patient feedback on the patient experience and our services the practice
  • Provide an opportunity for patients to be updated about pra tice news and ask questions about how the surgery is operating
  • At present the Trustees of the Friends act as a steering group, co-ordinating the activities and
    development of the PPG
